About this Event

Have you always wanted to learn coding and programming but don't know where to start?

Are you overwhelmed by the idea of doing an online course on your own? Don't have access to other education establishments?

Do you want to meet other women just like you who are also interested in learning new things and tech?

Keen to try something new and have some fun?

South West Web Girls is an extension of She Codes Australia - a movement empowering women to code and offering pathways into tech careers by organising free programming workshops and events and building communities of like-minded women. Our goal is to increase diversity in tech by inspiring 100,000 women across Australia.

We offer beginner level HTML & CSS, and Django & Python workshops - with a mix of online content, and mentoring from professionals who have experience in industry. This event is a collaboration between She Codes, Maker + Co and Milligan with support from New Industries WA and Spacecubed.

The format of the day is as follows:

10.00 Arrival, coffee, chat

10.30 Introduction to She Codes, and coding basics

11.00 Break into small teams to go through an online tutorial, with a mentor handy for when you get stuck.

12.30 Break for lunch (yes, lunch is provided, thanks to our brilliant sponsors)

1.00 onwards This day is all about YOU - work as fast or as slow as you like.

2.00 Cupcakes and yoga

5.00 That's all folks!
