Event description

Description

This session is for familiarization of the Fox on Rocks Funduro event course (Note the actual Funduro event is the week after on 24/6/17) combined with a look at the more challenging technical sections of the course (including the new stage added this year!) and how to best approach them.

The 3 hour session is being offered on Saturday morning and starts at the top of the trails making our way down the 5 stages (yes, last year had only 4 so we will include the new stage!!) and will finish at the bottom at the end of the session. (unless you want to ride back up. LOL). Closer to the event we will publish a list of emails of attendants and we suggest a bit of car pooling to leave a car at the bottom (is a short diversion off the route on the road up from Brisbane, just at the bottom of the range) then make your way to the top of the range where we will start.

There will be two MTBA Level 1 qualified coaches on the day (Mark and Mark) whom are familiar with the trails. Both coaches are experienced in woman's Mtb coaching and deliver the SheRides Program in Daisy Hill for Cycling Australia, provided the Chicks in the Sticks pre event lap sessions, currently coach the National round Junior Development Squads for Mountain Bike Australia and coached the Australian team at the CX World Championships in Europe 2017.

Please note, whilst these sessions have been arranged in conjunction with the Fox on Rocks Funduro event organisers, we do not provide nor guarantee your entry to the actual event. We recommend you also register through the Toowoomba Mountain Bike club for event entry accordingly. Actual event details for 24/6 can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1191254500972588/

FAQs

Is there an age limit to enter the sessions?

You need to be 18 unless your parent is accompanying you on the course. If so parents must also be a registered participant.

What should I bring to the event?

Your bike and usual riding equipment including Australian Standard approved helmet. Note, a full face helmet is required for the actual Funduro (24/6) in line with MTBA Gravity Enduro event classification regulations however, for the coaching session a non full face is acceptable. We would reccomend that if you are not used to a full face helmet you wear it at the coaching session to get familiar with the feeling. You will also need to bring sufficient water and food for the duration of the session. We reccomended a muslie bar or two (or similar) for on the trail and a minimum of a full water bottle (or two) or a camelback. You should also bring your spare tube and tyre repair equipment. It's a good chance to "dry run" all the gear you are planning to take with you in the event and to gain any advice from the experienced coaches on the day.

Don't forget to apply sun screen before the session starts also!

Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?
