Event description

Description

This session is for familiarization of the Fox on Rocks Funduro (Gravity Enduro) Event course combined with a look at the more challenging technical sections of the course. We will include how to best approach the trails for safety and speed. The aim for this course is to allow you to enter the event knowing the course and the advantage of being able to approach each stage confidently.

The coaching session is being offered on a Saturday morning. We will meet at the bottom of the trails at Amos Rd, Withcott at 8:30am and load up the bikes onto trailers / cars for a 8:45am departure time. We will then drive to the top of the trails at 8 Bridge St, Prince Henry Heights aiming for a 9:15am start on the trails up there. To help keep the cost of the course to a mimimum we are asking for some help from the course participants with driving people (we have trailers for bikes sorted) from the bottom of the trails to top of the trail before the session. We will likely need 4-5 people to do this. After the session we will also need another 1-2 people to transport the drivers who transported people up before the session back up to the top of the trails to pick up their cars. Thus in the registration we have asked if you are happy shuttle people to the top of the trails before and after the session, how many passengers you can take and if you have room for more bikes on your car (if required). We will be finishing the coaching session at the bottom of the trails aiming for 12:30pm.

The coaching component will be three hours starting at the top of the trails for the first stage and then making our way down the four stages. Note the elite female category ‘Velocity Vixens’ will have a fifth stage which will also be reviewed for those in that cetegory.

There will be two MTBA Level 1 qualified coaches on the day (Mark and Mark). Having raced at Jubilee several times themselves and this being their fourth year of support training to the Fox on Rocks event are very familiar with the trails. Both coaches are also experienced in woman's specific MTB coaching, delivering the SheRides Program in Daisy Hill for Cycling Australia, Chicks in the Sticks course familisation sessions, Junior Development Squads for Mountain Bike Australia and coached the Australian team at the CX World Championships in Europe 2017-2019.

Please note, whilst these sessions have been arranged in conjunction with the Fox on Rocks Funduro event organisers, registering for this course does not provide you entry to the actual event whcih is the week after. We recommend you also register through the Toowoomba Mountain Bike Club for event entry accordingly.

Actual Funduro event details can be found on the club Facebook events.

FAQs

Is there an age limit to enter the sessions?

You need to be 18 unless your parent is accompanying you on the course. If so parents must also be a registered participant.

What should I bring to the event?

Your bike and usual riding equipment including Australian Standard approved helmet. Note, a full face helmet is required for the actual Funduro (in line with MTBA Gravity Enduro event classification regulations) however, for the coaching session a non full face is acceptable. We would however recommend that if you are not use to a full face helmet you wear it at the coaching session to get familiar with the feeling. You will also need to bring sufficient water and food for the duration of the session. We recommended a muslie bar or two (or similar) for on the trail and a minimum of a full water bottle (or two) or a camelback. You should also bring your spare tube and tyre repair equipment. It's a good chance to "dry run" all the gear you are planning to take with you in the event and to gain any advice from the coaches on the day.

Don't forget to apply sun screen before the session starts also!

Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?

On our Facebook site is best (see below), or

What is the refund policy?

Sorry, no refunds are available for this event however we will offer a credit for the amount paid to put towards any of our other courses if more than 5 days notice is provided or if weather on the 15/6 does not allow the course to take place.

Is there any other coaching available in the lead up to the event that can help me prepare?
