About this event
This one-day Foundation skills for working with people with BPD workshop is for professional and support workers who work alongside the community mental health teams to support people with BPD and their families.
The workshop will provide an overview of a relationship-based approach to working alongside consumers with borderline personality disorder or borderline personality disorder traits. It provides guidance for health professionals in a variety of settings including;community based and inpatient services.
This training provides an opportunity to obtain both continuous professional development training and on-going skills development.
As a consequence of this training participants will:
- Enhance skills in early identification of BPD and care pathways
- Be oriented to clinical management guidelines and up-to-date evidence-based treatments for BPD
- Be introduced to 5 common characteristics of evidence-based treatments for BPD
- Learn how to implement practical skills and strategies for engaging consumers with BPD in treatment
- Be familiar with the relationship-based approach to working alongside people with borderline personality disorder
- Develop an understanding of the key considerations in engaging carers and support people
