Fostering Student Academic Self-Efficacy and Learning Design with Learning Analytics at UWA: Key Findings from the Zenith Pilot Project
Presented by Professor Gilly Salmon and Dr Melissa Cianfrini - Centre for Education Futures
The Centre for Education Futures (CEF) recently initiated the Zenith Pilot Project, which adopted an innovative approach to enriching student success through learning analytics. The pilot measured, collected, analysed and provided individual reports to students to assist in increasing motivation, academic self-efficacy, satisfaction, and performance. It also provided feedback on digital and blended learning design of the unit for Unit Coordinators. This pilot was a full stakeholder collaboration led by the CEF and involved UWA staff, students and the LMS partner Blackboard.
Underpinned by a set of ethical principles, the evaluation of the pilot provides key insights into student experiences with learning, using the LMS, and motivation to seek assistance, as well as insights into Unit Coordinator use of the reports and teaching experiences. The findings from this innovative approach to learning analytics will be discussed in-depth, accompanied by recommendations for further implementation.
Light refreshments to be provided after the Q&A session.
