FORUM: THE FUTURE BODY
Sun 11 Dec, 11-1pm, The Drill Hall
Free. Open to the public
This FORUM is part of Critical PAth's program Body of Ideas and looks at notions of the body and how it is being reflected back in society in art and in dance. In 2016 Body of Ideas will encapsulate a three-day provocation curated by Critical Path Associate Artist Samantha Chester. and will be guided by four provocations that have unpinned her research from 2015;
The Body as an Idea
The Body as an act of Impossibility
The Body as a system that fails
The Body as a Dilemma
Diverse artists tackle the idea of a future body.
in-conversation called THE FUTURE BODY with all these artists and other practitioners dealing with the nature of the existing and future forms of the body chaired by TBA the forum will ask the question what will the body be in a hundred years from now - how do we see the changing landscape of its purpose, its expression, its usefulness. How will the artist engage with this body by looking at the interest of the now and its evolution – will dance be dead, will it reinvent itself, will it be a game that we go outside to play - will the flesh still be at the heart of the world as Merleau Ponty suggests.
Panel Artists: Frances Barbe, Caroline Coggins (Senior Iyengar teacher), Angela Goh, Linda Luke, and Nick Power. Lee Wilson Chairing
