Event description

Description

You are invited to experience Forest Bathing with Melbourne’s only certified Forest Therapy Guide, Susan Joachim.

Forest Therapy originated in Japan where Shinrin-yoku (森林浴), or Forest Bathing is the practice of taking leisurely visits to natural places to improve overall health. In Korea it is referred to as Sanlimyok (산림욕) and in China and Taiwan Sēnlín liáofǎ (森林療法).

What are the benefits of Forest Therapy? The scientifically proven benefits to our physical and mental well-being include lowered heart rate, blood pressure and cortisol, reduced depression and stress levels, improved immunity and increased natural killer cells that fight cancer.

What is special about a Forest Therapy walk? t is a truly unique nature connection practice, where you will be guided through a series of “invitations” along easeful nature trails to awaken your senses and connect with nature and with yourself.

Enjoy being 'in the moment' and nurture your mind-body-spirit wellness.

Refresh over a complimentary Japanese inspired tea ceremony at the end of the two-hour Forest Therapy walk.

What to wear & bring? Comfortable walking shoes. Carry a light travel outdoor bag containing drinking water and snacks, a light rain jacket, hat and sunscreen as well as insect repellent.

Meet at the western end of Koronis Road, where there will be some off-street parking. As spaces are limited, if you RSVP and can no longer attend please ensure you cancel your attend, to make places available for other community members.
