Forest bathing is a mindful way to slow down and connect with nature. This walk takes place on a precious track of subtropical rainforest.
About this event
Forest bathing is a mindful way to connect with nature, support your health and wellbeing, and wash away the stresses of the modern world — no water necessary!
Inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku, it is simple and powerful . It involves slowing down, and immersing yourself in the atmosphere of nature in a conscious and contemplative way. You do this by awakening your senses, and tuning into what you can see, hear, feel, taste and smell.
Led by a certified Nature and Forest Therapy guide, this practice can help you unwind and recharge, renew a childlike sense of wonder about the world, make you more grounded and present, and deepen your relationship with yourself and those around you.
Let's wander, together, to a place of calm, clarity and connection.
Where
This small group walk takes place in Tamborine National Park, in the beautiful Palm Grove section, on Wangerriburra country.
We pass through with lush rainforest, with towering strangler figs, skinny Piccaneen palms, tall trees with vines and ferns, and abundant bird and wildlife.
Parking is available on site, at and around the end of Palm Grove Avenue.
Details of where to meet on the day will be provided 48 hours prior to the event.
What to expect
This event has a maximum of 8 participants, and is suitable for people 12 years and over.
It runs for two hours.
Your certified guide, Monique Ross, will lead you through a mindfulness meditation to help you to switch off and slow down.
In partnership with the land, Monique will then offer a series of simple and open ‘invitations’, carefully crafted to help you explore and engage in any way that feels right to you. In between invitations at various sites, the group comes together to share what they are noticing.
It is a very gentle experience that is intentionally slow; you can expect to travel no further than 2kms over the entire course of the walk. The path should be manageable for most fitness levels. It involves some walking over exposed roots and a slight incline.
While this path is not wheelchair accessible, many of my other walks are.
If you have any accessibility or mobility requirements, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

What to bring
- A bottle of water, sunscreen and a hat
- To be wearing clothes you feel comfortable in (it does not have to be hiking gear!)
- A small cushion to sit on if you do not want to sit directly on the ground. (A pillowcase works really well, too!)
- A bag or backpack to store your keys and personal items
- An open heart
Please note that this trail can be a tad muddy after rain. I suggest wearing runners or sandals; thongs can be a little tricky if it is wet.
