Description

The Department of Health & Human Services has funded Caraniche to provide a series of free two-day training workshops for forensic AOD (Alcohol & Other Drug) clinicians who are working with mandated clients. Caraniche has a team of psychologists, specialist forensic AOD clinicians and trainers who are contracted to provide forensic AOD treatment within both the Victorian public prison and community forensic systems. Attendees must be able to attend both days of this training.

This training is FREE for eligible individuals.

There is a maximum of 20 places in each training program and a limit of three places per organisation.

Topics covered include:

  • Understanding substance use and offending behaviour
  • Working with Corrections, confidentiality and appropriate documentation
  • Case formulation and treatment planning
  • Understanding anti-social personality and associated traits
  • Working with forensic clients, motivation, maintaining boundaries and treatment interfering behaviours
  • Dealing with aggression
  • Understanding the prison experience and working with paroles
  • Self care, support needs and supervision

FAQs

Who is eligible to attend this training?

To be eligible for this free training, attendees must be working with ASCO funded clients and be in a frontline role (NOT supervisory or managerial).


Can I attend this training if I don't work with Forensic AOD clients?

Unfortunately, this training is only funded for frontline clinicians who are currently working with ACSO funded Forensic AOD clients. If you are unsure if you meet this criteria, please email us at training@caraniche.com.au
