  • Family meal and entertaining ideas that don’t cost the earth and are delicious;

  • Simple ways to reduce your food waste and ensure you are eating better;

  • Clever storage ideas to maximise the freshness of your food;

  • Tastings from Chef Daniel's delicious recipes - including how to make your own stock, preserves and pickles.

This workshop is free to those who have signed up to the Food Smart Program.

Why are we holding this workshop? Did you know that the average NSW household throws away $70 worth of edible food every week! Food waste is a huge cost not just to your pocket but also to the environment. There are easy ways to cut down and Food Smart will show you how. Plus you get to sample delicious food! Visit Love Food Hate Waste website for further information about why it's important to reduce our food waste.

About our chef: Daniel Lange trained in Sydney & London learning from the likes of Tetsuya, Kylie Kwong, Luke Mangan and Jamie Oliver. After living and working overseas for five years & working in kitchens for over 16yrs, Daniel’s specialty in cooking is a combination of European & Asian cultures, refined by French cooking techniques. Daniel moved to the northern rivers about six years ago now, to live the dream on the coast. He now owns 100 Mile Food Group catering business and is also a teacher at The North Coast Institute of TAFE Wollongbar. Daniel has 2 young children, so is well aware of the pressures of planning healthy family meals to suit all appetites and diets, that are time and resource efficient. Daniel has a passion in sustainability, sustainably sourced foods, and cooking with less waste.

This program is brought to you by North East Waste and Tweed Shire Council, hosted by St Ambrose Primary School and supported from the NSW EPA's Waste Less Recycle More Love Food Hate Waste Program, funded from the waste levy.
