Learn about optimising your health through the good nutrition!

About this event

Join us for these FREE nutrition workshops centred around how you can take charge of your health with good nutrition!

Each week we will cover a different topic so feel free to join in over all 6 weeks, or pick and choose those weeks that interest you. Bookings are required so please register for each sessions via our Eventbrite page.

Sessions are delivered by qualified, local nutritionist, Carrie Reedy. Carrie takes a Functional Nutrition approach to healthcare to identify and address the underlying imbalances in the body which often contribute to the signs and symptoms of dysfunction. You can find out more about Carrie by going to: https://carriereedy.com/

A full list of topics with dates are detailed below:

Session 1 – Making 2022 your healthiest year yet – tips to get started (Thurs 10 Feb)

If ‘getting healthy’ is on your to-do list for the new year but you don’t know where to start, come along to this workshop where we’ll share the top 5 diet and lifestyle strategies you can incorporate into your life right away to make 2022 your healthiest yet.

Session 2 – Good health starts in the gut (Thurs 17 Feb)

Over 2500 years ago Hippocrates stated that ‘all disease begins in the gut’. Was he right? In this workshop we will explore the role gut health plays in our overall health and wellness. We will also talk about the best diet and lifestyle strategies to strengthen the digestive system to improve overall health.

Session 3 - The best ways to support our immune health through dietary choices (Thurs 24 Feb)

Many of us are thinking about the role our immune system plays in keeping us healthy, more so now in the era of COVID than ever before. In this workshop we will ‘unpack’ the importance of keeping our immune system in a balanced state so it responds appropriately when it’s challenged by pathogens or other trigging stimuli. We will talk about our everyday food and lifestyle choice and how they can play an important role in keeping our immune system in good fighting shape.

Session 4 – Using food as medicine to support women's health and hormones (Thurs 3 March)

For women, fluctuating hormones can significantly impact many aspects of our lives. In this workshop we will talk about the hormonal imbalances that are common across the life span, and how we can utilise a ‘food as medicine’ approach to support improved hormonal balance

Session 5 – Using Food as medicine to support healthy ageing (Thurs 10 March)

We are living longer than any previous generation, which is great news, but for many people, a number of these extra years involve living with various chronic health conditions. What if it doesn’t have to be this way? In this workshop we will explore the most important diet and lifestyle strategies to slow down the ageing process and enjoy good health into our senior years.

Session 6 – Using food as medicine to support better energy levels (Thurs 17 March)

Fatigue and low energy are common complaints these days. In this workshop we will talk about the underlying factors that can contribute to low energy states, and what we can do to improve overall energy levels using a ‘food as medicine’ approach
