Discover the Flying-foxtail trail. Pick up your passport and follow the map to the wonderful world of bats at your favourite bars and clubs in Cairns and Kuranda. No need to book tickets- just find a participating venue, pick up your passport and get it stamped at each venue you visit.

Venues: There are twelve venues, each with an enticing Foxtail with ingredients made possible by a bat.

Cairns City:

  • Wolf Lane Distillery
  • Three Wolves
  • Flamingos Tiki Bar
  • Pist4cchi
  • Splash

Fly a little further: Stratford and Northern Beaches

  • The Fox Small Bar, Stratford
  • Eazy Tiger, Trinity Beach
  • Cabana, Palm Cove

Up the range: Kuranda

  • The Butterfly Shop, cafe and bar, Therwine St
  • Mesa Familia, Original Markets
  • Frogs Kuranda, Heritage Markets
  • Le Petit Cafe, Rob Veivers Drive

Try out a bat themed cocktail or mocktail and get your passport stamped at each venue. Discover why you should thank a bat as you drink these heavenly concoctions.

Did you know flying-foxes and some smaller fruit and nectar eating bats are responsible for pollination and seed dispersal of many tropical fruits, sugar cane and the agave cactus- the prime ingredient of tequila?

Don’t forget to vote for your favourite cocktail or mocktail. Prizes to be won. Once you have sampled six FoxTails, photograph or scan your stamped bat passports and send to secretary.batsoc@gmail.com or show us at the Bat Festival or the Bat cave at Ecofiesta. Extra entries into the prize pool if you have ten or more stamps!

Learn more about bats at the Bat Festival on Sunday 9 June (4pm Wharf One Cafe, Cairns) and at the Bat Cave at EcoFiesta on Sunday 2 June.
