FLOCK #21
Event Information
About this Event
At each FLOCK event one local WA artist leads a creative workshop then another facilitates a debrief and discussion. Our event for 10 November, hosted by Performing Lines WA, will be held in the Large Meeting Room (Lvl 2) at the King Street Arts Centre, entrance via Murray Street, Perth CBD. Places are limited, so please register your attendance to reserve your ticket.
//WORKSHOP// " The connective power of live performance" with Rachael Woodward. Rachael will share playful games and clowning techniques that are integral to her practice - these will enable us to connect as artists and examine together what it means to perform. Rachael will ignite a shared exploration of the live, potent and constantly changing relationship between performer and audience. The workshop is suitable for artists of all disciplines, stages of career and skill levels.
//BREAK// Bring snack, or a plate of something sweet or savoury to share for morning tea.
//CONVERSATION// "Independent artists and money" facilitated by Daisy Sanders. Covid19 has revealed more than ever the systemic issue in our sector: artists, the utterly essential workers, live at the bottom of the economic pile. Daisy will facilitate an invigorating, action focused discussion that exposes the complexities of independent artists and pay, invites collective reimagining of how we engage with existing structures, shares knowledge and resources (particularly about the pursuit of UBI) and explores how we can improve $$ communication between artists and arts organisations. Money money money. A tough but essential chat.
- Please register your attendance to secure a place. To keep in line with covid-safe guidelines we have a limited capacity and will not be able to expand in numbers.
- Artists of all disciplines and all stages of career, attend FLOCK for FREE. Attendance is held by a $10 deposit, returned to attendees in cash at the event. We’ve made this possible by asking a different WA arts organisation to host us each month. Workshop artists and facilitators are paid approved rates and superannuation. We’re committed to activating, discussing and raising awareness of best practice in the independent arts sector.
- Please consider donating to our Admin or Access funds. Our access fund supports artists with children to attend & access costs for artists with disability, while our admin fund helps keep FLOCK running.
