Event description

Description

FLOCK is a monthly forum for Perth’s independent and freelance artists to share practice and conversation with each other. At each FLOCK event one local WA independent artist leads a creative workshop then another facilitates a debrief and discussion.

This August FLOCK is hosted by The Blue Room Theatre. The event is being held at the State Theatre Centre. Attendees please enter via stage door (Roe St) and sign in.

//WORKSHOP// "Fostering generous artistic practice" Join local Independent performer and theatre maker Jo Morris as she explores what it is to be a generous practitioner in all aspects of performance, and how it can enrich and ultimately feed into a healthier arts community. Via a combination of unapologetically silly games, spirited discourse and focused, practical technique, this workshop is designed to evoke and celebrate the things that connect us to our practice, and to each other. Suitable for artists across all disciplines.

//EAT// Bring a plate of something sweet or savoury to share at dinner break.

//CONVERSATION// "Where do our ideas start?" Elizabeth Pedler will facilitate a discussion on the incubation and the development of new creative works, and the structures we need to grow them.

Independent artists, all disciplines, all stages of career are welcome to attend FLOCK for free. We’ve made this possible by asking a different WA arts organisation to host us each month & pay our workshop artists & facilitator a fair fee & superannuation. We’re committed to activating, discussing and raising awareness of best practice in the independent arts sector.

- Please bring a plate to share.
- Please consider donating to our Admin or Access funds. Currently, FLOCK's admin is volunteer. Our access fund supports artists with children to attend & access costs for artists with disability, or to our admin fund to keep FLOCK running. We suggest a donation of $10 - but pay what you feel!
