Description

Firechief is located behind Dan Murphy's, or off Camberwell Road. You may still use The Well Car park if you wish, it is a short walking distance from there.

*Please note that there is NO SET BOOK for our Book Club! You may come & just listen, or talk about whatever you have recently been reading - no pressure, just books!*

Our guest authors for Tuesday July 4th are:

Sarah Vincent & Aprille McMahon - Australian autobiographical non-fiction

Death by Dim Sim

Sarah: I woke up one day to find I weighed 122 kilos and was morbidly obese. But it didn’t actually happen “one day”. It happened over the 35 years I spent following the diet industry’s advice to cut calories, count kilojoules and weigh and measure my food. Thankfully I finally realised it was sugar and processed carbs, low-fat diet foods and crash diets that had made me fat, plus me believing I was a lazy glutton who needed the multi-billion dollar diet industry’s wisdom and assistance to lose weight.

With the help of an amazing and radical nutritionist, Aprille McMahon, I learned how to eat. I now eat when I am hungry and include plenty of good fats like butter, avocado and coconut oil. I also worked with a champion ex-boxer who taught me how to move my body and make it strong and lean. I have so far lost over 40 kilos and detail my transformation in my memoir Death by dim sim

Mark Brandi - Australian crime fiction, debut Wimmera

Mark Brandi is a Melbourne writer.
His fiction has appeared in literary journals and been broadcast on ABC Radio National.

Some of his work has been awarded.
He has completed his debut novel while sometimes consulting to not-for-profit.
He also likes to run.

In the long, hot summer of 1989, Ben and Fab are best friends. Growing up in a small country town, they spend their days playing cricket, yabbying in local dams, wanting a pair of Nike Air Maxes and not talking about how Fab's dad hits him or how the sudden death of Ben's next-door neighbour unsettled him. Almost teenagers, they already know some things are better left unsaid.

We will provide some finger foods and beverages/tea/coffee on the night, as well as some giveaways supplied by publishers. The cost for each evening will be $15.00 all inclusive.

Please join us by booking a ticket here, or via camberwell@dymocks.com.au, or in store. Doors open 6.30pm for a 6.45pm start.

Dymocks Camberwell celebrated 2012 The National Year of Reading with the inauguration of our very own First Tuesday Book Club, each month.

We start the evening by talking about our favourite novels, both new & older ones. We will ask participants to comment about books they have read or are reading, just like a normal book club. We won’t be setting a monthly book, as we want to hear about as many books as possible, including old favourites. You may just want to listen at times and hear about other people’s experiences with their books. It is totally up to you!
