Event description

Description

Please note new location, Barolo Trattoria Camberwell. We apologise for the inconvenience, the function room is upstairs & there is no lift.

*Please note that there is NO SET BOOK for our Book Club! You may come & just listen, or talk about whatever you have recently been reading - no pressure, just books!*

Our guest authors for Tuesday February 6th are:

Hazel Edwards - to celebrate her new adult mystery novel, Celebrant Sleuth: I Do or Die!

Passionate about literacy and creativity, Hazel has mentored gifted children and proudly held the title of Reading Ambassdor for various organisations. Formerly a director on the Committee of Management of the Australian Society of Authors, Hazel was awarded an OAM for Literature in 2013.

Glenna Thomson - Australian fiction, 2nd novel Stella and Margie

Glenna Thomson lives in north-east Victoria on a cattle property. She portrays her experiences on the farm, and in her extensive garden, vividly in her writing. For several years, Glenna and her husband also managed a commercial blueberry orchard, which inspired her first novel Blueberry. Glenna grew up on an apple orchard, married, had children, and before moving to the country she developed a career in overseas aid and business. Stella and Margie, her second novel, will be released in January 2018.

Lindy Schneider - Australian non-fiction FROM THIS PLACE – Inspiring Women Artists of the Upper Yarra Valley

I am a writer with the courage to make a story real. Actually, I am many forms of writer – author, biographer, freelance writer, ghost writer and editor, communications specialist and, content writer.

I self-published my first book at age 8, a collaboration with two other classmates that incorporated photography and a moral tale that inspired readers ‘to give it a go.’ The excitement of being given a call number and seeing my book on the library shelf has not waned.

We will provide some finger foods and beverages/tea/coffee on the night, as well as some giveaways supplied by publishers. The cost for each evening will be $15.00 all inclusive.

Please join us by booking a ticket here, or via camberwell@dymocks.com.au, or in store. Doors open 6.30pm for a 6.45pm start.

Dymocks Camberwell celebrated 2012 The National Year of Reading with the inauguration of our very own First Tuesday Book Club, each month.

We start the evening by talking about our favourite novels, both new & older ones. We will ask participants to comment about books they have read or are reading, just like a normal book club. We won’t be setting a monthly book, as we want to hear about as many books as possible, including old favourites. You may just want to listen at times and hear about other people’s experiences with their books. It is totally up to you!
