First Nations Guided Gallery Tour with Kane Brunjes
Overview
Kane’s work is deeply rooted in his connection to Country, storytelling, and the balance between Culture and contemporary expression. This Artist Talk offers a unique opportunity to hear firsthand about his experiences as a First Nations artist, his creative evolution, and the role of Culture in shaping his practice.
The event begins with an Acknowledgement of Country, setting the stage for a moving conversation with Kabi Kabi/Gunggari artist Kane Brunjes. Kane will share his journey as an artist, exploring how Culture, storytelling, and personal experiences shape his creative practice. He will discuss the significance of his work, the stories behind his pieces, and the balance between Culture and contemporary expression. Following his talk, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions, engage in meaningful discussion, and gain deeper insight into his artistic process. The session concludes with final reflections and an exclusive opportunity to view Kane’s artwork up close, followed by time for conversations and networking.
As part of this enriching experience, participants will enjoy a Native Tasting Platter, featuring a selection of seasonal fruits, cheeses, crackers, house-made lemon aspen and wattleseed damper, wattleseed banana bread and brownies, roasted nuts, and a trio of Native dips. The platter also includes a curated selection of Native proteins – Kangaroo, Crocodile, and Emu – topped with fresh warrigal greens and ice plant.
The Artist Talk is perfect for art lovers, emerging artists, and anyone interested in First Nations perspectives on creativity and Cultural expression.
