Event description
Cultivate your child's mind for innovation and passion for robotics in this global STEM program!

About this Event

Let your child join a global STEM program to learn how to solve real-world problems while having fun!The FIRST LEGO League Junior (FLL) Program is an internationally-acclaimed robotics program that ignites a child's passion for science, technology, engineering and mathematics. In the program, your child will participate in an international exhibition of ideas and innovation while learning robotics.Designed for children ages 6 to 10, FLL is a hands-on program focused on building a child's interest in science and engineering and how these concepts can impact the world around them. This program provides a learning environment that fosters research, critical thinking and imagination.Program StructureThere is a different theme for the challenge each year and has two main parts: the LEGO Model and the Show Me Poster. The children will be divided into teams guided by adult coaches. During the program, the students will conduct research about the theme, build a LEGO Model based on the instructions provided in the challenge, and display their findings on a Show Me poster.Important Notes1) Students will be guided throughout the program on their project including researching the topic, learning robotics and coding, developing the Show-Me Poster as well as preparing them to attend the school event and the Expo.

2) All teams will participate in an Expo with selected teams participating in the Expo at Macquarie University in early December.

3) Parents will be required to drive and accompany their child to the Expo. Parents must sign Macquarie University risk acceptance consent forms to participate in the Expo.

4) Students may be required to do additional work (e.g. research, prepare/edit poster, etc.) outside the workshop times.

5) All students will receive a participation certificate from FIRST Australia and an opportunity to participate and additional recognition at the Expo.

6) Parents may be invited to support and assist with the program. Parents will receive a weekly update on what we did in the workshops including pictures and videos.
