Groove Factorie are some of Wagga’s finest musicians who come together on the last Thursday of the month to celebrate the music that inspires them to play, drawing from a huge catalogue of music and styles.
Featuring an impressive list of vocalists including Jamie Way, Cathy Wall, Lauren Carlson, Matt Olsen, Meredith Adams, Cheyne Halloran and fantastic young vocalists from numerous Wagga High Schools. Geoff Simpson (Bass) Dale Allison (Guitar) Dave Wall (Keyboards) Riley McPherson (Drums) Andrew Heap (Trumpet) Richard Hibble (Tenor Sax) and Dave saxon (Trombone) together they groove, jam and turn inside out some fantastic music, Including songs by, Steely Dan, Chicago, Blood, Sweat & Tears and Stevie Wonder to name a few.
Griffith's 'metro' returns in its evolved format playing "loungefied eighties sounds".
Lead singer, Mechlene Nehme, credits her current vocal sound to Canadian Bill Ladick and his nine-piece funk band, which she experienced while living in Singapore. “There was something about Bill’s energy and knowledge that helped me develop the voice I have now,” Mechlene said. Singing songs from teen influences such as Kate Bush is very exciting for Mechlene, a musical direction she hopes to explore with Malikah
Drummer Livio Mazzon - With plenty of band experience between Griffith and Canberra, over a span of 25 years, Livio has stayed true to his passion for jazz, particularly funk and smooth lounge styles. Livio will be playing his beloved Sonor drum kit on the night so keep an ear out for some New York-infused beats.
Lachlan Pendlebury (trumpet, flugelhorn and percussion), originally from Sydney, has played a wide variety of musical styles from orchestral, wind ensemble, brass band, latin, funk, pop, jazz, swing, even a bit of klezmer for good measure. Lachlan completed a Bachelor of Music Education degree at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music before being selected for the two-year, full-time Jazz Performance Program at the same institution. His passion is fostering young musicians through his work with the Griffith North Public School Band, private brass tuition, and his work as a trumpet tutor for the Department of Education's Performing Arts Unit.
Anthony Biondo is a self confessed guitar nerd and has been performing since the early 90s performing with local acts like Crossfire, Thinline, Liquid Groove, Undercover Brothers, Big Unit and Kiss My Brass, the experience gained along the way lead to forming The Luxxtones with the aim of providing a band that can cover a broad range of music to service the corporate / wedding function scene. Always looking to improve his guitar skills Anthony also performs with original Heavy Rock Band Ultimatum and other side projects.
Riccardo has been performing since the late 80s having played in both original and cover bands. He also has played in various big band ensembles and has dabbled in classical guitar also. Always striving to improve on technique he also has experience in recording and has tutored students which he continues today. Riccardo is looking forward to working with the other members of Malikah and in maintaining a solid bass groove as part of the rhythm section along with Livio on drums.
