Finding Your Tribe in High School - Casey
Overview
Finding Your Tribe: High School Bootcamp Is your child in Grade 6 or 7 struggling to make or keep friends? Feel left out or anxious about the transition to high school? This free, evidence-based workshop helps young people build genuine connections and lasting friendships.
What to Expect: On Monday, January 20th from 10am-3.30pm, students will learn practical, proven strategies from the PEERS® curriculum, including:
- How to start and join conversations naturally
- Choosing appropriate friends and handling peer pressure
- Planning successful get-togethers with peers
- Managing disagreements and navigating social challenges
- Building confidence for high school social situations
Program Highlights:
- Completely FREE - supported by the City of Casey
- Small group format with hands-on practice and role-play
- Evidence-based PEERS® methodology (UCLA-developed)
- Delivered by PEERS®-certified coach Julie Athanasiou
- Interactive activities and take-home resources
- Safe, supportive environment for all learners
Who Should Attend:
Grade 6 & 7 students who want to improve their social confidence, make meaningful friendships, and feel prepared for high school. Perfect for neurodivergent youth including those with autism, ADHD, or social anxiety.
Location: Bridgewater Family and Community Centre
Delivered by Youth Connect Foundation in partnership with Strivesocial (NDIS registered provider), proudly supported by the City of Casey.
