MASTERCLASS

About this Event

Designed for faculty as well as PhD students, this masterclass is an opportunity to learn more about doing credible qualitative research.

During the workshop you will be asked to reflect on your experience of supervising or writing a qualitative PhD, including some of the problems you have encountered in supervisions and/or in the successful progress of the student's research, and offering solutions.

PLEASE NOTE: there is a maximum of 30 attendees for this workshop. If you register after all places have been filled, you will be put on a waiting list and will be notified if a place becomes available.

SPEAKER

Professor David Silverman is Professor Emeritus in the Sociology Department at Goldsmiths College, London; Visiting Professor in the Management Department at King's College, University of London and the Business School, University of Technology, Sydney; as well as Adjunct Professor at QUT, Faculty of Education. He has authored 15 books and 45 journal articles on qualitative research, ethnography and conversation analysis.

Professor Silverman has supervised around 30 PhD students, three of whom are currently full Professors. He has hosted workshops on qualitative research for PhD students and academic staff since 2009 in Australia, Europe, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Tanzania.
