Join us for a special screening of the film Sisters of Gion produced in 1936 as part of the public program for the exhibition Ukiyo-e: Japanese Prints of the Floating World.
This film portrays pre-war Japanese society's treatment of women. It is one of director Kenzo Mizoguchi's finest pre-war films. It tells the story of two sisters who work as geishas in a district of Kyoto.

The discipline of Asian Studies, within the School of Social Sciences, Faculty of Arts at UWA is the campus partner for the exhibition Ukiyo-e: Japanese Prints of the Floating World, showing at the Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery from 8 February until 28 June 2014.
Getting to the Gallery:
The Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery is located on the corner of Stirling Highway and Fairway, at the grounds of The University of Western Australia (UWA).
Car: Ticket parking is available on campus off Fairway, next to the Gallery, in the University carpark number 20. ACROD permit holders can park on Fairway section.

Accessibility:
The Gallery is accessible by wheelchair. A manual wheelchair is available for visitor use, free of charge from the Gallery reception. Accessible restrooms are also available.
