Event description

Description

Join us in NAIDOC week for a special screening of Prison Songs, a ground-breaking documentary giving voice to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Shot entirely behind bars, Prison Songs depicts both the humour and aching sadness of real inmates via musical performances composed by Shellie Morris and Casey Bennetto using the participants’ own words. The film is a spark intended to fuel positive action and expose the tragedy of shockingly high prison rates of Aboriginal people.

Presented in conjunction with the Sutherland chapter of Amnesty International.
