Description

In assocation with Shark Island Institute, Health Issues Centre is pleased to present a free screening in Melbourne of the documentary film:

THE BLEEDING EDGE

to be shown Thursday evening, 4th April at Kino Cinemas in Melbourne City.

Academy Award-nominated filmmakers Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering turn their sights on the $400 billion medical device industry in the US, shining a light on the perils of the relentless pace of innovation - examining lax regulations, corporate cover-ups and profit driven incentives that put patients at risk.

The film tells the emotionally powerful stories of people whose lives have been irrevocably harmed from implanted medical devices.

Highly engaging and enraging, seeing this film could not only change your life, it could save your life.

Note: The film screening will commence at 7:00pm, with the panel discussion following at approximately 8:30pm.

Since this is a free screening, with limited tickets available, we would appreciate that if you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration to enable others to attend.

Following the film screening, a panel (participants to be advised) will discuss aspects of the film and the parallels to the Australian experience

On Friday, 5th April, Health Issues Centre is hosting the "Unfinished Business: National Mesh Implant Forum" at the Citadines Hotel, Bourke Street, to consider all aspects of Australia’s mesh implant crisis.

This is a unique opportunity for mesh-injured consumers to meet regulators and share their experiences of post-surgery complications and the effects of mesh implants and create real change.

Please click HERE for further details and to register for the event.

  • Registration is available both for live attendance at the Forum or through virtual attendance via live streaming.

  • Tickets now available - $30 for mesh-injured consumers and carers, $10 for live streaming and $120 for organisation representatives and professionals.

For any inquiries, please contact Health Issues Centre by email at info@hic.org.au or call on 03 8676 9050.
