Event Details

On a recent trip to the Great Barrier Reef, our team were shocked to see first hand just how dire a state our reef is in. Initially we felt heartbroken and a little helpless, but through conversation we shifted this mindset to ask ourselves, "What can we do as individuals and as a community to respond to this?"

We're sure most of you know that change is needed - whether it's simple daily actions multiplied by millions, or industries making big changes to the way they do things. Join us for a film screening and fundraiser, held at Spell HQ in Byron’s Industrial Estate, to spread the message of ocean conservation and come together to explore the next steps.

“BLUE is a cinematic song for our oceans; beautiful, intimate and grand. Fearlessly truth-telling, yet passionately hopeful. See this film and you will want to rise up with the waves.”— GREENPEACE AUSTRALIA

We will be joined by the films Director to introduce the film, and after the screening a Q&A panel with special guests:
  • Tim Silverwood - Environmentalist, Plastics Campaigner and Founder of Take 3 for the Sea
  • Binkley Davies – Marine Biologist, Surfer, Australian of the year nominee, Free Diver, Environmental Conservationist.
  • Lauren Hill – Surfer and Environmentalist
  • Elizabeth Abegg – Spell & The Gypsy Collective Co-Founder and Chief Brand Officer

To open the event we will be unveiling our mural to support Sea Walls Australia, an organisation aimed at giving the oceans a voice through art.

Delicious Mexican food from Chihuahua and drinks served up by Dead East Bar Co will be available before the screening starts, so arrive early to soak up the festivities.

All ticket sales and 100% of proceeds raised on the night will be donated to Take 3 for the Sea & Balu Blue Foundation Inc. Spell will also be matching dollar to dollar what is raised on the night with all proceeds going to protecting our marine life.

We hope you leave feeling inspired, and full of hope to be an active member of our community, ready to drive change in the world.
