The Australian Health Ministers’ Advisory Council (AHMAC) Mental Health Drug and Alcohol Principal Committee (MHDAPC), invites you to partake in the national stakeholder consultation process that will inform the development of the Fifth National Mental Health Plan.
The Fifth Plan will seek to establish a national approach for collaborative government effort over the next five years, with a focus on achieving a better integrated service system for consumers and carers. This Plan will build on work undertaken by four previous National Mental Health Plans, existing state and territory mental health plans, and national health and mental health reform efforts.
The Plan is also being developed to complement and integrate with the actions already being implemented in response to the National Mental Health Commission’s Report of the National Review of Mental Health Programmes and Services ‘contributing lives, thriving communities’.
The National Consultation process will consist of a series of face-to-face workshops in all states and territories throughout November and early December 2016. A schedule of all national consultation workshops can be found by visiting www.health.gov.au. Sessions will focus on actions that will contribute to achieving the Fifth Plan’s objectives.
To ensure a robust and effective process, the Commonwealth is partnering with Mental Health Australia, the peak, national non-government organisation representing and promoting the interests of the Australian mental health sector to plan, conduct and synthesise the outcomes of the national consultation process. Registrations for each workshop will close 7 days prior to the event to ensure venues and planning can be finalised.
Following your registration you will be emailed a workshop information pack.
