Event description
Making 100% Natural Plant Fibre Paper with Jacky Lowry.

About this Event

This workshop has been postponed because papermaking is fairly water intensive. Right now (Nov.2020) we are in drought, with our bore nearly dry and we are needing to truck in water. If you are interested in papermaking with 100% plant fibres, please contact me and I can send you my Newsletter with updates on what is happening.

This workshop assumes you can pull sheets from recycled paper pulp and that you are ready to take hand papermaking further.

Working with 100% natural plant fibres is somewhat different from using recycled paper pulp, and everything will be covered. Students will make sheets with several different plant fibres, as well as experimenting with suitable embellishments.

Natural plant paper pulp will be suppled, as will the equipment you need. Full notes will be provided so that you can make plant fibre pulp at home should you wish.

Please wear enclosed shoes to the workshop.

And please bring your own lunch. The workshop venue is near Maleny in rural southeast Queensland, and there are no shops nearby. Tea and coffee will be provided.

Image: Iris leaves. Iris leaves and stems are an excellent source of natural plant fibres for hand papermaking.
