Event description

Description

The 2019 Kangaroo Valley Arts Festival 'Australian Made' celebrates the very best in Australian Music and Sculpture. Held in Kangaroo Valley, NSW over three days from Friday 3 May to Sunday 5 May 2019, this Festival has something for everyone!

To start our Australian Made Festival we have brought together not one, but two, Australian made Stuart & Sons concert grand pianos, to be played on Friday 3 May, by one of Australia’s best-known international artists, Piers Lane.

Stuart pianos are objects of great beauty as well as giving a clearer sound, and are made from Australian materials and design. On Saturday 4 May at 9:30am their maker, Wayne Stuart will give an interesting talk about his world famous pianos - 'It's what's inside that counts!'

These stunning instruments will feature again on Saturday 4 May, played by an exciting duo - Natalia Ricci and Michael Endres - 'Two pianos, Four hands.'

To add a further rousing, and a quintessentially Australian element, the Royal Australian Navy Band will perform at a concert held on Sunday 5 May, in the Osborne Park Showground in Kangaroo Valley - and, thinking of rousing, we are also bringing the Sydney Brass Ensemble to Kangaroo Valley as part of the Festival! Both of those concerts will be held outdoors, if weather permits, so that the audience can enjoy our beautiful valley views!

To take full advantage of our intimate Hausmusik venues (two of which are new to the Festival), we have brought Sydney Symphony Orchestra’s leading cellist and violinist as well as the brilliant Acacia Quartet into the mix.

Finally, we have added two elements of performance drama with a live performance of an Australian epic of love and music, accompanied by a noted string quartet; and then a voyage through the folk songs collected and arranged by Australia’s Percy Grainger. We hope you find a lot to enjoy in ‘Australian Made’!

Please refer to the Arts in the Valley website for more information about the Festival with details of each event and the more information on each of the performers. If you have any questions, please contact us at info@artsinthevalley.net.au
