Future Paddock EVENTS
• Explore regenerative agriculture
Join the Kater family as they introduce the principles behind regenerative agriculture & learn from their experiences, with examples from their own paddocks. Annabel, Rod & Penny are still investigating this approach to farming that’s gaining increasing acceptance across Australia – you’ll discover some of the best thinkers in the field.
• Plant an ark
Want to re-establish a fire-resistant healthy native forest? Rainforest ecology specialist, Alex of Biological Preservation Australia, will introduce principles of ecological restoration, explaining the process from choosing a site & selecting plants for their best chance of survival, followed by some actual planting of pioneer & secondary species – bring gloves if you’d like to try yourself (limited numbers for planting). Alex will be around through the morning for questions. Presented in association with Biological Preservation Australia.
• Home-made invention show & tell
Some old & new inventions, repurposings, cheap tricks & new hacks from around the shire. Got a clever treasure or a fresh idea of your own (or your great grandparent’s)? Please contact us if you think you might have something interesting you’d like to show & tell for a few minutes over lunch.
• Drones in agriculture
Drones are getting a tonne of press lately, some positive, some negative. Learn what’s around right now as well as what might be coming soon in this rapidly changing field. Sphere Drones are one of Australia’s leading drone solution providers. Sphere Drones work with Australia's largest companies in industries such as agriculture, mining, government & energy to provide sales, service and consulting solutions on these fast-developing machines.
• Rural robots
Robots are touted as the coming thing in herding stock, planting crops & fetching your slippers – but are they everything they’re cracked up to be? Rod Kater will go into what he’s learned. You may have seen Rod featured with robots on ABC-TV’s Catalyst.
