About this Event
FEMINIST WALKING TOUR
Sunday March 21,11-1.30pm
Find out about Sydney's feminist and LGBTIQ struggle history.
On the back of International Women's Day and Mardi Gras, this walking tour will catalogue the resistance against the heteropatriarchy.
It’ll explore key women’s rights and LGBTIQ street fighting events excluded from the annals of public memory.
We will stop at Aboriginal and women convict rebellion sites, queer uprisings, migrant women uprising mementos and sites of women's literary and journalistic endeavours.
This inspiring expedition will demonstrate that feminist resistance, revolts, and determined opposition are part of a people's uprising heritage through stopping at sites in the beautiful Hyde Park, the Barracks and top end of Sydney's CBD.
The tour will take 2.5 hours along a 3km route. Water and nibbles provided.
Proceeds to Green Left, Australia's leading progressive media outlet. Green Left is turning 30 years old this year. Thirty years of activist press! Help us celebrate this truth-telling milestone by becoming a supporter and help us keep going.
Cost: $30 adult; $20 concession; $10 for students. $50 family of four, $50 solidarity. Group bookings for students and others available.
Message 0403517266 if any queries. If you can’t make this date, then you can book for our next tour, which will take place in the second half of 2021.
