Description

Jodie Kenny: Hockeyroo Co-Captain and Mum

Dr Sharon Stay: Sports and Exercise Physician, Northside Sports Medicine and QAS Provider.

Dr Melanie Hayman: Head of Course – Health Science (Allied Health), School of Health, Medical and Applied Sciences, Central Queensland University

Rebecca Ryan: QAS Physical Performance Coach

Having published a series of papers looking at exercise behaviours during pregnancy, Dr Melanie Hayman will deliver a presentation outlining some of the key findings of her work. Recently releasing a series of guidelines and fact sheets for Sports Medicine Australia, Melanie’s research is at the forefront of recommendations guiding current clinical practice.

Dr Hayman’s presentation will be followed by a Q & A discussion with Dr Sharon Stay, Rebecca Ryan and Hockeyroo Jodie Kenny, who recently returned to the national team following the birth of her son Harrison. With a focus on exercise programs for athlete’s pre and post pregnancy, the panel will share insights and experiences from both a practitioner and athlete perspective.

This workshop aims to highlight the opportunities, challenges and considerations for elite athletes managing sporting pursuits while also starting a family. Do not miss this chance to engage in dialogue with athletes, coaches and practitioners and help shape the policies and procedures designed to support female athletes and their families.
