Event description

Description

Felt is considered to be the world's oldest textile. Made from wool using heat, moisture and agitation, felt is incredibly light yet warm, strong and superbly textural. There is something so very therapeutic about making felt - not only is it rewarding to create fabric from a mass of wool, the soft, fuzziness offers a sensory experience that is very nurturing and enjoyable.

Jeanette is a passionate felter, having learnt with some of the world's best felters to develop her skills. Felting has become her creative outlet, it's versatility enabling her to create garments, purses, jewellery, flowers and scarves!

Discover this craft for yourself in this hands-on 3 hour workshop.

Using pure merino wool and simple equipment you will learn how to layout the fibres, use a resist, add embellishments and create a unique purse to take home.

* Guests are asked to please bring along an old towel and a small microfibre cloth
* All other materials and equipment are supplied.
* No experience necessary
* Pots of Kutumba's delicious Masala Chiyaa (vegan chai) and organic herbal tea are included.
* This class is for adults. If you have children who are interested in feltmaking, please contact Joh at info@kutumba.com.au to register your interest for a child's workshop.
