Event description

Sheep, beef and dairy producers are invited to a webinar/phone seminar with industry experts Colin Peace and Brett Davidson to discuss the current canola fodder situation and opportunities to feed canola hay and silage to livestock.

What is this seminar about?
A large proportion of Victoria’s canola crops have failed and have been cut for fodder. This has created an opportunity for livestock producers to access another source of feed for their stock during this extended dry period.

Topics will include:

• Overview of the current canola crop situation; what has been cut, quality of product, availability and indicative prices.

• Feeding canola silage and hay; nutritional quality and palatability, new season feed test ranges, animal health and vendor declarations.

About the Presenters:
Colin Peace of Jumbuk Consulting delivers services and advice across the grain and fodder industries. He will share his analysis and insights on the current canola fodder market.

Brett Davidson of Agriculture Victoria is the Dairy Regional Manager (Northern). He has previously worked in NSW DPI as an extension officer specialising in feed base. He has had personal experience feeding cows through difficult seasons since 1992. Brett will discuss feeding canola fodder to livestock.
