February Field Day - Gemtree
Event Information
About this event
Dear Biodiversifying Personages,
It has come to my attention that it’s not last year anymore. Apparently what was previously next year has now become this year, and last year has gone altogether. Never to be repeated. Just when I was about to start enjoying it.…
Anyway, the upshot is that we’re baaack. And not a moment too soon either, because previously Sunday was too far away.
But on Sunday 6 February, shortly after sparrow’s pffft, or 9 o’clock to be more preciser, we’ll be baaack at Gemtree, on Hamilton Rd, just a lazy two wood east of McLaren Flat. It’s the same site that we’ve been working on before, so returnees will know it well. Either way, keep yr eyes peeled for the Yellow Cockatoo sign.
Before we retire at 11 for refreshments, including some of Gemtree’s most excellent dynamic and fully orgasmic wine, we’ll be down in a section of Pedler Creek taking care of business. There are artichokes need their heads biting off, tree guards to remove and watering to do. For those who enjoy lethal interactions with olive and ash trees, we plan to have a burst of comprehensive annihilation. But not the blackberries, of which you should beware. Apparently goats work well on these, so we might pass the hat and buy Mel a couple of kids.
What, I hear you say, will we need to bring with us? Well, to begin, you’ll need to be dressed. From the top down, we suggest hat, shirt, pants, socks and shoes. Plus gloves if you have them (or use ours), your water bottle (filled) and possibly a drill, if so inclined (with a 10mm bit, or use one of ours).
I’d like to get serious for a moment but it’s too early in the year. Instead, I’ll just say thank you to all of our Partners and especially, this month, a big shout out to Kate S!
See y’all there.
Cheers,
Geoff H
