SESSION 12 TOPIC: Attacking Principles of Play

Who should attend
Accredited and Non-Accredited coaches at the Community Football level
Approved FA Accredited Coaching Licence Re-Validation CPD points
Accredited coaches who attend ALL of the 12 workshops will be eligible for 30 CPD points as determined by FA Coach Education in line with the AFC Coaching Convention.
Special consideration will be provided to coaches if up to two (2) sessions are missed due to circumstances beyond their control.

12 FCA-SSP program sessions commence on Monday 4 October and be held every Monday:
• 12 program sessions FREE for FCA-SSP Members ($ 70 Licence fee) – Free Promo code will be sent to FCA SSP Members
• $10 per session for Non FCA Members ($100 Licence fee)
• $10 per session for current SSP licence holders

Getting the best out of your players is a fine art. As a coach you not only need to identify the what, when, where, who and how of a situation, you also need to be prepared to deal with it effectively.
Planning a training session should:

About the presenters
Gary Van Egmond
Gary began his playing career with APIA Leichhardt in 1982. It was not until he joined Footscray JUST in 1987 that he established himself as a prominent player in the National Soccer League (NSL) before moving overseas to play for Roda JC where he only managed to get 10 games.
He made his Australia national soccer team debut in the 1988 Seoul Olympics under Frank Arok and went on to have success with Marconi Stallions in the 1990s – where he won an NSL championship and played in three finals.
Gary began his coaching career with success as youth coach of Northern Spirit FC before he won the state-league grand final on his return to Manly-Warringah as head coach in 1999.
He then joined Newcastle as the Assistant Coach in 2001.
In season 2006–07, Gary was appointed Head Coach
Van Egmond turned the Jets around, securing the Jets a place in the A-League finals and cementing his job at the club for the 2007–08 season.
In the 2007–08 season van Egmond guided the Newcastle Jets to second place on the league table and then to the A-League Championship also winning the A-League coach of the Year.
Gary coached the Newcastle Jets until the end of 2008–09 season and accepted a position at the Australian Institute of Sport.
In October 2011, he returned Newcastle Jets keeping him at the club until 2013–14 season.
Since then Gary has ben coaching at National team level:
2015–2019 Australia Women (assistant)
2019– Australia U20
2021– Australia U23 (assistant)
James Robinson
James Robinson is the Head of Australasia for Sport Session Planner. James brings an extensive football background, as a player and coach, therefore understanding the needs of football coaches, at the community and advanced levels, in planning and delivering their training sessions and programs.
James played for Melbourne Victory FC, Perth Glory FC and North Queensland Fury FC in the A-League and NPL Clubs Richmond SC, Oakleigh and Bulleen in the NPL.
James was Head Coach/ Manager of NPL Victoria side Ballarat Red Devils from 2014 to 2015 before managing the Brisbane Roar Youth team in 2016. He then had a Manager stint at Ballarat City FC in 2019.
James is highly respected within the football industry and a recognised football educator.
