Description

Increase your understanding of the complexity of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD), the effects across communities and how to support individuals living with FASD.

Participants will receive resource packs from NOFASD Australia that will enable them to confidently share information about FASD with peers, teams and other colleagues.

Time: 9.00 am to 4.00 pm

Venue: Level 2, Community Capital Centre, 100 Sportsman Parade, Bokarina, 4575

Lunch, refreshments and certificates of attendance provided.

The course gives attendees an insight into:

• History and description of FASD

• Effects of FASD on the individual

• The diagnostic process

• Challenges for individuals living with FASD

• Responding to individuals living with FASD

• Overview of strategies for support

• Frequently asked questions

Resources include:

• Hard copy and electronic resources

• FASD PowerPoint with instructions

• Case management information

Certificates of attendance are provided.

About the Sunshine Coast Local Drug Action Team FASD project

The Sunshine Coast Mind and Neuroscience Thompson Institute recently received funding from the Alcohol and Drug Foundation to lead a Local Drug Action Team specifically focusing on FASD on the Sunshine Coast community.
The consortia for this project include University of Sunshine Coast, NOFASD Australia, Community Solutions, Refocus and the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service’s Child Development Service.
