The Gippsland Family Violence Alliance and Gippsland Homelessness Network are proud to bring this dual Family Violence Training Workshops

About this Event

There is two sessions available to attend. You can attend both or one, depending on your needs.

Morning Session- Facilitated by: The Consumer Action Law Centre (CALC)

It will Cover:

  • What options your client has for financial recovery from family violence
  • Legal obligations that businesses have when collecting family violence related debts & practical strategies for dealing with these businesses
  • How you can get free financial help & legal advice
  • What an Ombudsman is and how they can help your client
  • Practical tips & strategies for helping your client on the road to financial recovery

Afternoon Session- Facilitated by Tenants Victoria will examine how to provide support and protection for tenants that may, due to family violence issues:

  • Be at risk of becoming homeless
  • Need to break a lease to move to more secure accommodation
  • Want to take over the lease of their current property
  • Be fearful of being made accountable for damage to a property despite no longer residing at the home
  • Be required to attend a hearing at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal

Timeline for the day:

CALC 10.00am to 12.00pm

Lunch 12.00pm to 1.00pm

Tenants Victoria 1.00pm to 4.00pm
