Event description

Description

The Royal Commission into Family Violence recommended the Victorian Government fund research into the “sleeper issue” of acquired brain injury among both victims and perpetrators. The Centre for Evaluation and Research commissioned a consortium led by Brain Injury Australia - comprising Monash University, Domestic Violence Victoria, No To Violence (incorporating the Men’s Referral Service) and the Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare - to undertake the first prevalence study in Australia. The research not only found high rates of brain injury among Victorians hospitalised due to family violence but examined the potentially higher numbers of both victims and perpetrators that are undetected and undiagnosed in the community. In this seminar, the consortium members will deliver their findings and offer a range of potential solutions.
