Event description
Join the Family Matters 2019 report launch on the safety, wellbeing and development of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.

About this Event

Family Matters is Australia’s national campaign to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people grow up safe and cared for in family, community, and culture.

Family Matters aims to eliminate the over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in out-of-home care by 2040.

As the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child reviews Australia’s progress in meeting children’s rights, the Family Matters 2019 Report reveals what needs to change to respect, protect and fulfil the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. The Family Matters 2019 Report explores the current extent and drivers of child removals and measures the actions and outcomes of governments across the continent.

It provides a set of evidence-based recommendations on what needs to be done to achieve positive change for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families.
