Description

Fancy a night of laughs, drama, surprises and stories of science as you’ve never seen them told before? Then head to the FameLab New South Wales semi-final at Powerhouse Museum on Wednesday 5 April!

FameLab aims to discover charismatic, up-and-coming scientists who inspire people to see the world from a new perspective - in just three minutes.

Watch as twelve of the country’s best science communicators take to the stage to win your hearts and minds as they battle it out to become the FameLab New South Wales champion for 2017! The question is – who will be able to handle the heat?

Have you ever wondered why some people are allergic to shellfish? Did you know that a simple puff of breath can be used to detect diseases? Join us at this FREE event to hear scientific experts explain concepts like these in just three minutes in a fun and enlightening way!

Presentations will be judged by an esteemed panel of media professionals and public figures according to FameLab’s 3Cs: content, clarity and charisma.

The winner will be announced on the night and will then go on to compete in the national final – hosted by superstar astrophysicist, Dr Alan Duffy – at the Western Australian Maritime Museum in Fremantle on 4 May.

As an audience member, you'll also have the power to choose your favourite contestant by using your smartphone to vote in the Audience Choice Award.

Come along for a FREE night that’s guaranteed to be full of FameLabulous fun!

Please note: doors open at 6.00pm for a 6.30pm start. Tickets must be pre-booked in advance.
