Event description

Description

Join expert speakers from Australia and Singapore to reflect on the legacy of the fall of Singapore 75 years ago. The fall of Singapore in 1942 to the Japanese Imperial Army marked a humiliating defeat in the Pacific War for the British Empire and was a turning point for Australia to reconsider its foreign policy, alliances and strategic position in the world.

This symposium reflects on themes of history, heritage and memory and weaves together personal stories and international events to reveal the enduring legacy of 1942 in our region.
