Event description

There are increasing responsibilities and opportunities with research data - requirements for reproducibility, researcher data management responsibilities, data as a way of building industry partnerships. But no one can do it all - so what are your responsibilities? Who can you partner with to meet the requirements?

Australia is developing an incredibly powerful set of research data assets - particularly through the NCRIS investment - Australian institutions are developing sophisticated data asset management capacity. Internationally, the powerful European Open Data Cloud initiative, the US National Institutes of Health Data Commons are examples of increasing emphasis of data. Novel approaches and technologies allow new questions to be answered through data-intensive research. Australia is developing a new Research Data Cloud.

This one-day event is a day of exploring responsibilities and opportunities to strengthen the use of data in research, and the provision of data and data services for research. The aim by the end of the day, is to develop a position for Australia on how we maximise Australia’s research data assets, their use, and infrastructure responsibilities. Examining:

  • The role and responsibilities of data providers

  • The role and responsibilities of data service providers

  • The role and responsibilities of research data users

  • The policies that support FAIR data

  • The partnerships that enable Australia to have the best advantages for data intensive research

Forum suited to those holding roles that are responsible for determining how data in and for research and collaborations can be driven by effective partnerships, which lead to policy outcomes.

If you want to contribute and shape the future of the research data assets of Australia, please join us, your hosts, ANDS, Nectar and RDS.

The Forum program, including venue, speakers and virtual attendance details will be made available soon.
