Seminar Abstract

Recently the Australian government announced that it would implement a reservation of gas for domestic use, in an attempt to ensure the supply of gas for Australia, in particular the east coast. This seminar will examine this domestic gas reservation policy and law. It will examine it in terms of the constitutional capacity of the Federal Government to implement such a law, and what such a policy really means for energy security. In examining this, the seminar will draw on experiences from Europe, and in particular the UK.
