Faculty of Higher Education: Research Presentation Series
This is a great opportunity to expand your knowledge around the topic of research through a series of five sessions.
These sessions will each concentrate on a key area of the research cycle and are offered across the remainder of the year as follows:
Wednesday August 10 – Conducting Ethical Research
The session will cover basic ethical research principles, ethics and the research process, ethical responsibilities of the researcher, risks to participants in the research process and issues of seeking informed consent.
Wednesday September 14 – Demystifying Research: How to get started?
The session serves an introduction to research, types of research, factors affecting the decision to conduct research, research paradigms and an overview of the research process.
Wednesday October 19 – Conducting Literature Reviews
The session covers reasons for conducting a literature review, getting the most out of your reading, searching the literature and checking the quality of research articles.
Wednesday November 23 – Basics of Good Survey Design, Part One
This session covers an overview of the survey design process, a discussion of various survey methods and questionnaire wording, sequencing and layout considerations.
Wednesday December 7 – Basics of Good Survey Design, Part Two
This session discusses the use of various scales and question types in survey design.
