NOW TAKING EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST FOR A NEW SERIES ON WEDNESDAYS!

Mastering Pretend Play!

Playing is an essential occupation for all children: it is what helps children learn!

Some children find it hard to play. And sometimes they need a little bit of help to develop their play skills...

At the end of January Soetkin travelled to Brisbane to take part in an advanced training around developing Pretend Play Skills.

Pretend Play is the highest form of play and helps in mastering language, literacy and numeracy skills as well as social skills!

IF YOUR CHILD HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED AS HAVING A DEVELOPMENTAL DELAY / CHALLENGE IN AT LEAST 1 OR MORE DEVELOPMENTAL AREAS, THIS WOULD BE A GREAT SERIES FOR YOUR CHILD TO SUPPORT THEIR OVERALL DEVELOPMENT!!

The way these sessions are put together are to ensure participation of children of ALL ABILITIES.

We start at the developmental level your child is at.

Rainbows and Owls wants to promote an INCLUSIVE and DIVERSE practice in all their sessions, therapies, events and workshops for ALL participants.

Parent & Child Play Skills Workshop! - 4 sessions

This is a series of 4 sessions which kids (and parents) will love!!

We will be using a variety of toys and play techniques.

The games we will play during these sessions are targeted specifically to children between the ages of 2yo and 7yo to help them develop their (pretend) play skills.

Learn to Play with Parents (LPP) is a programme to develop the spontaneous initiation of pretend play skills of children. Research tells us that pretend play is important for children in developing problem solving, flexible thinking, and logical sequences in their thoughts. When learn how to play, they begin to understand the play of their peers and pretend play is important for their emotional well-being. Many children cannot play; this programme helps parents learn active ways to help their children increase their spontaneous, pretend play, with the direct assistance of a play/occupational therapist. This approach can be used for children with developmental delay, learning problems, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Down’s syndrome, and neurological conditions.

You can book a ticket to for the 4-week series via the ticket link. Cost is $200.00 per 4-week series (+ $9.99 booking fee ->> $50.00 per session for 4 sessions).

There are currently no rebate options available for this particular series as the series is offered at a special introduction price. Price includes use of materials & tools + handouts with info on how you can practice these skills at home for each session.

There is a limited amount of 4 children (+ one parent each) per session that can participate so please be quick to book your spots.

Parent participation is required during the session to ensure better learning outcomes! When parents experience first hand what their children do and learn, they can transfer these skills and that knowledge to other situations and help their children learn better!

Booking a spot for the 4 sessions implies that you commit to attending all 4 sessions promply and in a timely manner, especially seeing that the children work in a group and contineously build on skills from previous sessions.

There are no refunds available once payment has been made. In case a child has turned ill and has missed 2 or more sessions due to illness (medical certificate), in agreement with Rainbows and Owls, there can be an option to transfer the unattended sessions to a later date, when the series is offered again at a later time.

If you have missed out on booking a spot for these sessions, you can still express your interest and you will be contacted once another series will be planned.

For schools and services that are interested in these sessions - Yes! We can offer these series or one that is tailored to your clients' / students' specific needs at your school or service!
