Event description

Description

Are you currently contracted to support the delivery of Australian Aid? Does your organisation partner with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) to undertake investment designs and/or performance management activities? Are you considering tendering for DFAT aid related contracts?

DFAT is opening up some of our in-house training courses to help instruct and support industry to better understand DFAT’s requirements. The courses are generally delivered to DFAT staff who have aid responsibilities in Canberra or at one of our overseas missions. The courses demystify DFAT’s requirements and expectations for the management and delivery of Australian aid.

DFAT is seeking an expression of interest (EOI) from consultants, contractors and partner organisations to attend a series of courses in Canberra date TBA (possible dates: 18-22 June 2018) (see course details below).

DFAT is planning on delivering the following suite of aid management training:

Introduction to Aid Management – half day

The introduction to aid management course provides an overview of the global context of international development, strategic priorities of the Australian aid program, and the key processes involved in the four stages of the aid management cycle.

Managing Design – (2 days)

The Managing Design course examines how to manage the design process for an investment; investment concept requirements; different design pathways in DFAT’s aid program; roles and responsibilities of staff in design; and resources available to support designs. Each stage of design is role played and experienced using case study materials. By the end of the course participants will have improved their capability to plan for, manage and quality assure design documentation and processes.

Monitoring & Evaluation – (2 days)

The Monitoring and Evaluation course will help participants understand how to develop, commission and implement M&E over the life of the aid investment. By the end of the course participants will have an increased capability to critically review a monitoring and evaluation plan; to write an aid quality check, critically review a performance report; commission and manage an evaluation and to use performance data for program management decision making.

PLEASE NOTE THE TRAINING WILL BE DELIVERED IN A BLOCK, PARTICIPANTS WILL BE ABLE TO ATTEND ALL 5 DAYS OF TRAINING OR ALTERNATIVELY CAN ENROL FOR SPECIFIC SESSIONS.

It is important that interested parties submit an expression of interest to enable DFAT to assess industry demand and appropriately meet the needs of participants.

There is no course fee but participants will be required to cover their own travel, accommodation and other related expenses.

NB: DFAT will finalise the program including dates and timing based on demand and interest.

The courses will be held on consecutive days during a selected week to minimise travel requirements and related costs.
