Teachers: Expression of interest for ChemDay at ChemCentre are now open!


Bring your class to ChemDay at ChemCentre.

Year 9 and 10 students are invited to ChemCentre to learn more about the important role chemistry plays in our community. Join us for a series of presentations to meet real life scientists, and complete fun, hands on activities. This will be an eye opening day where students will be inspired and develop a greater appreciation of the super hero chemists within WA.

This event is brought to you by ChemCentre with the support of Murdoch University Outreach Team, ECU Outreach Team, Curtin University Outreach Team and UWA Marketing team.

Date: Friday 4 May 2018  (Term 2, Week 1)

Time: 9:30 am - 2:30 pm

Location: ChemCentre, Bentley

Student age: Year 9 and 10 students only

Student Numbers: Minimum of 10, Maximum 20 students per school

Cost: Free; simply organise transport for your class and ensure the students bring their recess/lunch.

Event Program:

ChemCentre Overview Presentation

Meet a Chemist  -  Presentation and Q&A panel with two ChemCentre chemists.

4x 30 minute hands on activities.

Recess and lunch breaks included

Please note, laboratory tours are not included in this event


Duty of care will remain with the teachers of each class at all times.

All staff and students need to wear enclosed shoes.

All staff and students need to bring recess and lunch.

Confirmation of acceptance for your class will be provided via email from a ChemCentre representative; completion of an Eventbrite ticket is an expression of interest only.

How many tickets should I 'purchase'?

Please 'purchase' ONE free ticket to express your interest in this event, regardless of the number of students you wish to bring. Please note we accept a maximum of 20 students per school.

Does 'purchasing' a ticket guarantee my class a place at this event?

No, 'purchasing' a ticket is an expression of interest only. Accepted classes will be contacted via email.

How many teachers should I bring?

Teachers are required to maintain duty of care throughout the whole day, please ensure you bring enough teachers to satisfy your school's duty of care requirements.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Schools are strongly recommended to hire a bus to drop off/pick up students and teachers. 

Paid car parking is available and in high demand therefore cannot be guaranteed. Bus parking is not available near the event location. More details will be provided to the accepted classes.


What can I bring into the event?

Please ensure all staff and students wear enclosed shoes and bring their food/drinks for the day.


Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?


Can I bring additional students?

No, maximum of 20 students per school.
