Expression of Interest

The Central Coast/Hunter CHSP Sector Support would like to offer this course to people working within the Sector. This is a call for interested Sector participants to express their interest within this course. Dependant on numbers it would be intended that this course would be offered fee free. Training for this would occur between October and December, 2016.

What is a Skill Set?

Skill Sets are defined as single units of competency or combinations of units of competency from a nationally endorsed Training Package, which link to a licence or regulatory requirement, or a defined industry need.

Overview

This skill set is for people working in various care and support roles in the community services sector who wish to develop skills in supporting people with dementia.

This skill set has been endorsed by industry as suitable for individuals who

• hold a qualification at Certificate III level or higher in an area involving provision of direct client care or support

or

• have skills equivalent to the qualification requirement validated through a recognition of prior learning process

or

• have substantial industry experience, on the job training and development along with supervisor assessment of capacity.

In this course you will be developed to demonstrate your competence in:

    1. CHCAGE005 Provide support to people living with dementia

    2. CHCCCS008 Develop strategies to address unmet needs

    3. CHCCCS009 Facilitate responsible behaviour

    4. CHCCCS020 Respond effectively to behaviours of concern

Entry Requirements

This skill set has been endorsed by industry as suitable for individuals who
