Export Readiness: Growing Your Business

John Catlin has a broad background in policy and planning (including experience in education, the arts, the resource sector and human services). He returned to the Western Australian Government in 2010 after a ten year absence during which he worked for the Victorian Government, Mount Isa Mining and the Commonwealth Government. In October 2015 he swapped his role as Deputy Director-General of the WA Department of Premier and Cabinet for the position of Regional Director (now re-badged as Commissioner) in the WA Government’s Singapore office. His remit is to facilitate trade and investment between Western Australia and Singapore and, increasingly, across the ASEAN community.

Leon is the Managing Director and also leads the Tax Division at Pitcher Partners Perth. He has over 20 years of experience across a broad market spectrum. His own practice area is primarily corporate and international tax with clients ranging from small-cap listed companies, large private groups as well as large multinationals across a variety of industries. In addition to servicing clients, Leon regularly presents at seminars and contributes to professional publications and the press, providing comments and opinions on international and national tax matters.

  • Darren Levy
    International Trade Manager

Darren is an International Trade professional with over 20 years import, export, sales and marketing experience to more than 30 countries.

As the Manager of the International Trade and Investment Centre at CCI and the Austrade TradeStart Advisor for WA, Darren provides international sales and marketing development and technical cross border trade facilitation to help members and customers safely and profitably navigate trade transactions.
Darren has a demonstrated track record in:
• Drafting and negotiating international commercial contracts
• Agent/distributor and partner search and engagement
• Technical tariff and logistics management
• Market selection, market entry strategies and cross-cultural marketing
• Inbound and outbound product/service compliance requirements

Darren has earned two WA State export awards in international trade development roles and has an extensive international network.

An understanding of exports will benefit all companies who are seeking to grow their business and engage with new markets. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with like-minded business owners over drinks and nibbles.
