Exploring Historical Homes Tour ( Via BUS )
Event Information
About this event
🚌 A history BUS Tour with a twist!
Be introduced to Teneriffe and New Farm - as we take in the sights for our 2nd Bus Tour. BRING YOUR GO-Card and Mask😷 to board the Bus 🚌🚌🚌
Learn about Homes with History taking in both sides of the New Farm/Teneriffe Peninsula.
We begin in Teneriffe which was once the ‘industrial side’ of the peninsula, with its shipping, timber-milling, brewing, sugar refining, petroleum and wool storage, and gasworks.
Next we board the 199 Bus for a 10-minute ride to the scenic side. Here you will walk past several heritage houses and learn a little about the people who lived there. Next, you can take in a panoramic view of the river, the city and the Story Bridge.
Finally we return to Teneriffe via the 199 bus.
About the Tour Guide:
Gerard is regarded as a local historian in New Farm, Teneriffe and Newstead because of his two popular books about the area: Reflections on New Farm (2008) and Homes with History on the New Farm Peninsula (2015). For more than a decade, he has been the history columnist for New Farm’s My Village News monthly magazine. As an editor and designer, he has assisted many people wishing to produce a book.
We will finish up with a coffee close by in Teneriffe - please feel free to join us.
